In a world where gender equality remains a pressing issue, the power of economic empowerment cannot be underestimated. At Demic Tours Africa, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate gender equality through our operations, policies, and initiatives. By championing women’s economic empowerment, we can create a more inclusive and equitable tourism industry that benefits individuals, communities, and society as a whole.
On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Demic Tours Africa actively participated in the Regional Gender Equality Conference held at Movenpick Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya organized by the United Nations Global Compact Network Kenya in collaboration with Danish Industry. This conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and change agents to create a platform for discussing and implementing strategies for promoting gender equality. We are proud to have shared our experiences and learned from others in order to continuously improve our practices.

Case Study:
One inspiring case study presented at the conference by Abdi Mohammed, CEO of Absa Bank Kenya PLC and board member at the Global Compact Network Kenya, who highlighted that 67% of bank loans are given to women-led companies. Klaus Lehn Christensen, the regional manager for East Africa at the Danish Industry, shed light on the gender disparity in boardrooms in Denmark, where for every 9 board members, there is only 1 female board member. Esther Nyongo, the program coordinator at Global Compact Network Kenya, welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of gender equality in the region.

At Demic Tours Africa we have implemented gender-sensitive policies and programs to empower women in the tourism sector. By providing training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities to female staff members, the company not only improves gender balance within its workforce but also enhances the overall quality of our services and client experiences.

At Demic Tours Africa, we firmly believe that economic empowerment plays a crucial role in achieving gender equality. Through our involvement in various initiatives, we have witnessed firsthand the positive impact that supporting and empowering women can have on their lives, families, and communities. Our case studies and policies are a testament to our dedication to this cause.

In line with our commitment to supporting women’s economic empowerment, Demic Tours Africa has introduced top safari deals that specifically focus on promoting and empowering women in the travel industry.
