Our Beliefs

The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. It was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, on 12 December 2015. It entered into force on 4 November 2016.

At Demic Tours & Car Hire, we are passionately committed to protecting our planet for the generations to come. We understand the critical need to address climate change in alignment with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) guidance. To limit global warming to 1.5°C, we recognize that global greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2025 and decrease by 43% by 2030.

We strive to empower our travelers to make sustainable choices that have a positive impact on natural environments, wildlife, local communities, and cultural heritage in every destination they explore. Through our carbon scoring framework, we offer clear insights into the environmental footprint of each customized journey.

By educating travelers and promoting eco-conscious decisions, we aspire to cultivate a sense of responsibility and encourage the travel industry to actively support urgent climate initiatives. We acknowledge tourism's substantial effect on ecosystems and are committed to advancing sustainability throughout every aspect of our business operations.

Our Mission

Our goal is to acknowledge and mitigate the negative impacts of our industry on the planet while promoting innovative solutions that lead to positive change. We believe sustainability is an ongoing journey—a commitment to continuous learning, education, and improvement.

To achieve this, we are dedicated to:

  • Providing each client with a detailed carbon score for their holiday quote, along with practical advice on how to minimize their environmental footprint.
  • Advocating for sustainable travel practices, highlighting the positives of travel that can outweigh its challenges.
  • Educating our travelers on how they can actively support the conservation of the ecosystems they explore.
  • Partnering with and promoting guides and suppliers who prioritize sustainability in their operations.
  • Ensuring complete transparency in our sustainability practices and methodologies.
  • Committing to ongoing education and enhancement of our sustainability initiatives and research efforts.

Our Strategy

Our objective is to illustrate that a Demic Tours Africa holiday has a broader impact that goes beyond just its carbon footprint. Through our innovative carbon footprint scoring framework, we equip clients with a thorough understanding of their trip’s environmental effects, enabling them to make informed choices to minimize their impact.

Sustainable travel involves more than simply addressing carbon emissions; it also takes into account elements like local employment, community engagement, biodiversity conservation, and cultural preservation. Although these factors can be difficult to quantify, we are dedicated to supporting initiatives that foster sustainable tourism practices.

Transparency, Metrics, and Education

Transparency is essential to our commitment to sustainable travel. We work alongside climate change experts to create a reliable tool for assessing the carbon footprint of our holidays. Our methodology takes into account various factors, such as energy consumption, transportation, and accommodation.

We pledge clarity in our carbon removal and offsetting practices by partnering with organizations that support initiatives benefiting ecosystems and communities. We ensure transparency by providing clear information on how clients’ offset contributions are utilized.

Long-Term Goals

Our long-term goals embody our dedication to ongoing improvement and sustainability:

  • We will continue gathering supplier data through sustainability surveys to deepen our understanding and enhance accountability.
  • We aim to be a leading advocate for sustainable travel, promoting responsible practices throughout the industry.
  • We are committed to achieving an additional 10% reduction in our average holiday carbon footprint per person by January 2028.

Our Internal Practices

Alongside our efforts to promote sustainable travel externally, we understand the significance of implementing sustainable practices within our organization.

As we adapt to the post-COVID travel environment, we will emphasize energy efficiency, responsible procurement, and sustainable commuting in our daily operations.
